Finding Financial Relief: How Poor Credit Doesn’t Mean the End

Struggling with financial difficulties in the past doesn’t have to define your future. Having poor credit isn’t the end of the world – there are plenty of options available out there to help you when you need it most.

If you have to pay for something urgently, whether that’s a boiler breakdown, car repairs or home renovations, there are financial solutions that are accessible to those who are navigating their current monetary challenges.

Funding urgent home or vehicle repairs

If you’re needing to pay for something that’s completely out of your budget right now, such as a replacement item in your home or fixing your car, you might be struggling to justify the cost or you simply can’t afford it.

Short-term solutions such as bad credit loans can help you cover these necessary costs. You can still successfully apply for loans with a bad credit score – you just need to ensure you’re able to pay off the loan and avoid getting yourself into too much debt.

Pay bills on time

There’s always time to improve your current credit score, and paying your bills on time is a great place to start.

Arrange for all your bills to be paid on the same day so you can easily see how much you’ll be left with for the rest of the month. By setting up direct debits, you won’t have to worry about paying the bills yourself and you may not even notice that the money has left your account.

If you’d like some advice on how to approach paying your bills, be sure to book some time with a trained professional at your local Citizens Advice centre

Consider your options

Your life doesn’t have to stop just because you have a poor credit score. For instance, you can still purchase a mobile phone e.g. buying a SIM-only contract, rather than signing up for a brand-new contract to have the latest new gadget.

Whilst it’s important not to live beyond your means, there are still ways in which you can continue your life. Don’t get caught up on having the latest new product whilst being in lots of debt. Try to work with your current situation as best as you possibly can.

How to find financial relief in emergency situations

If you’re in an extremely difficult financial situation, Shelter England offers emergency grants if you’re struggling to pay your bills or even pay for food.

Grants are available through various charities or your local council and these are beneficial if you have lost your job or your home and are severely struggling to make ends meet.
